Unique design and lots of love are put into this Canadian website. Ookieookie was started by Ryan Schmidt a Saskatoon based artist and designer. I love their characters El Pollo Loco, Cojito Rojo, Koala and their button badges Allergies for kids. I love the idea.

Quand j'avais 14 ans cela s'appelait des pin's et, je dois bien l'avouer, c'était hyper tendance dans la cour du collège ! Oh my God !

Maintenant je ne sais même pas si cela existe encore. En tout cas, dans le cadre des allergiques, je trouve cela intéressant. Quand vous laissez votre enfant à une baby sitter ou à quelqu'un qui n'a pas l'habitude de gérer des allergies alimentaires, c'est intéressant de rappeler l'allergie par ce biais. C'est toujours un truc en plus. Quand on est parent d'enfants allergiques, laisser son enfant (quand il y a un repas à gérer) est toujours une source d'angoisse.

A priori cela n'est distribué qu'au Canada mais au cas où quelqu'un souhaite importer l'idée...

Saskatoon Fringe Festival

It's that time again I am set up at the Saskatoon Fringe Festival on Broadway Avenue painting portraits and selling buttons. Come say hi and tell all your friends to get portraits of themselves or their pets. I am set up Aug 8-11 Wednesday to Friday 6pm-10pm and Saturday 12noon-10pm.

I was painting dog portraits again this past week at a Flyball Tournament in Warman SK. This is one of my favourite portraits of the weekend.

Silverspooning with Brent Butt

I was lucky enough to be asked for the use of my flower painting as the backdrop for Brent Butt at the Silverspoon Dinner in Saskatoon. This yellow bird painting was created for the silent auction. It is my first ever bird painting let me know what you think. The Silverspoon Dinner is tonight!

Portraits at the HCKOC Dog Show!

I will be painting pet portraits at the Hub City Kennel and Obedience Club (HCKOC) Dog Show this weekend May 4th, 5th and 6th at the Wheatland "A" Building in Prairieland Park, Saskatoon SK. Come on out and see all the dogs and bring photos of your pets if they aren't competing at the show.

Lieutenant Governor's Awards - Puppet Show

The Lieutenant Governor's Arts Awards took place on March 28 in Saskatoon SK at TCU Place. I worked with www.wideopen.ca to create the backdrops for the puppet show which was the main entertainment for the evening. I also helped by building some of the props etc. The stage was massive... 16 feet wide with 5 tiers each tier approx 18" high. The show went over quite well and I am sure everyone enjoyed as much as I did. I did the decor for the event as well which I talked about in my previous post.

Lieutenant Governor's Arts Awards - Decor

I've been busy with a project for the last little while... I was very lucky to be asked to help out with the Saskatchewan Arts Board's - Lieutenant Governor's Arts Awards Show. I was in charge of the decor for the banquet and stage areas. I also worked on the backdrops and props/puppets for a custom built 5 tier puppet stage. The puppet show was done by www.wideopen.ca I will post pics of the puppet stage etc a little later.



This was my first go at an event of this kind and it seemed that everyone enjoyed the results. I designed the banners and the centerpieces for the event. The LG Awards banner shows a photo of the award itself I did not take the photo and the award was designed by Saskatchewan artist and lifetime award recipient Joe Fafard.

Lookie lookie held over!

My show at The Living Room on Broadway in Saskatoon has been held over! If you haven't had a chance to check it out yet you have until the end of March to see it. The above painting of Orchids is on display at The Living Room and is generating much interest. If you do check out the show let me know what you think. Cheers.

Pet portraits!

I will be in Aberdeen SK this weekend Mar 10th (8am-5pm) and 11th (8am-4pm) for a AAC Agility Trial. The trial is at the Aberdeen Equestrian Horse Centre. I will be painting Quick Sketch Dog Portraits so come out watch some exciting agility action and have me paint your pup.

My Quick Sketch portraits are painted with acrylic on 12"x12" unframed 1/8" thick MDF. They are based on a digital photo that I take and painted in under a half an hour that is where the 'Quick' comes from. There are no guarantees of perfection as that is the nature of a quick sketch but most people enjoy the final product.

I did this illustration which inspired a painting just before Christmas. The people who commissioned it were very happy with it. I love the Hawaiian shirt.

Crude Ultimate

I just completed a new logo design for an Ultimate Frisbee err I mean 'Disc' team based in Calgary. They wanted to reference crude oil. They had ideas of a drum of oil spilling out and spelling Crude however this is how my design ended up.
